NEW DELHI: India tempo bowler Arundhati Reddy has been reprimanded for giving a fiery send-off to Pakistan’s Nida Dar, breaching Degree 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, throughout the Girls’s T20 World Cup Group A match in Dubai on Sunday.
“Reddy was discovered to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Gamers and Participant Help Personnel, which pertains to “utilizing language, actions or gestures which disparage or which might provoke an aggressive response from a batter upon his/her dismissal throughout an Worldwide Match,” an ICC launch acknowledged.
Along with the reprimand, one demerit level has been added to Arundhati Reddy’s disciplinary document, marking her first offence in a 24-month interval.
The incident befell within the 20th over of Pakistan’s innings when, after dismissing all-rounder Dar, Reddy gestured in the direction of the pavilion.
Reddy admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC Worldwide Panel of Match Referees, negating the necessity for a proper listening to.
The cost was levelled by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Lauren Agenbag, together with third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Claire Polosak.
Degree 1 breaches carry a minimal penalty of an official reprimand, a most penalty of 50 per cent of a participant’s match charge, and one or two demerit factors.
