New Delhi: The Election Fee on Monday appointed Jharkhand cadre senior-most IPS officer Ajay Kumar Singh because the state DGP, sources stated, days after the ballot panel eliminated Anurag Gupta because the appearing police chief.
An officer of the 1989 batch of the Indian Police Service, Singh was chosen from a panel of three IPS officers whose names had been despatched by the state authorities.
The names had been despatched after the ballot authority on Saturday ordered the elimination of appearing DGP Gupta on account of his “historical past” of election-related misconduct in earlier polls.
The state goes to polls in two phases on November 13 and 20.
On Saturday, the EC had requested the state authorities to make sure that the cost of the DGP is handed over to the senior most DGP-level officer within the cadre as an interim measure.
The state authorities was additionally requested to submit a panel of names of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers by October 21 morning to allow the EC to choose an officer to be named the subsequent DGP.
