Jose Mourinho handed two-match Serie A ban for referee rant – Occasions of India

MILAN: Jose Mourinho will miss the opening two matches of the Serie A season after Italy’s soccer federation handed the Roma coach a 10-day ban for calling a referee “the worst” he had ever seen.
In an announcement, the FIGC’s disciplinary tribunal mentioned that Mourinho would serve the ban “from the start of the following league season” which begins on the weekend of August 19-20.
Mourinho and Roma had been each fined 50,000 euros ($54,000) for his feedback about Daniele Chiffi, which got here after Roma’s 1-1 Italian league draw at Monza early final month.
The 60-year-old clashed with Chiffi in the course of the match and afterwards mentioned he was “the worst referee I’ve encountered in my whole profession”.
“He’s terrible, he does not make any human connection and he has no empathy,” he added.

Roma completed sixth in Serie A final season and had been dropping Europa League finalists.
