Bahraich Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Nayan Singh has suspended seven police personnel, together with the in-charge of a police outpost, over allegations of indiscipline, negligence and harassment of individuals, officers on Sunday stated.
This comes after an incident on the Jalim Nagar police outpost, situated on the border of Lakhimpur district, inside the jurisdiction of Motipur Police Station.
A truck crashed into the outpost in the course of the night time of January 2 and three, utterly destroying it, stated police sources.
A case was registered following the incident and an investigation was initiated.
Earlier on Friday, Inspector Basic of Police (Devi Patan Division) Amit Pathak and the Bahraich SP
inspected the location.
Some irregularities relating to the behaviour of the police personnel on the outpost got here to mild in the course of the inspection.
The conduct of the police personnel appeared suspicious within the preliminary investigation, prompting the SP to take rapid motion.
In consequence, seven police personnel, together with police outpost in-charge Dinesh Bahadur, had been suspended.
Extra Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari stated it was revealed in the course of the investigation that the police personnel on the Jalim Nagar outpost had unnecessarily harassed the truck driver and proprietor after the accident on January 3.
“The police’s job is to help the general public, to not mislead them and create bother. Each investigation is carried out beneath a Normal Working Process (SOP), however the SOPs had been ignored on this case and the car proprietor and driver had been unnecessarily troubled,” Tiwari instructed PTI.
Additional investigation into the matter is underway, he stated.
