NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka has been penalised with a 10 % deduction from their match payment for sustaining a gradual over-rate of their ICC World Cup opener towards South Africa in New Delhi on Saturday.
Match referee Javagal Srinath imposed this penalty after Dasun Shanaka‘s workforce was discovered to be two overs behind the required price throughout Saturday’s match, accounting for time allowances.
In step with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Gamers and Participant Help Personnel, pertaining to minimal over-rate violations, gamers are fined 5 % of their match charges for every over their workforce fails to bowl throughout the designated timeframe.
Shanaka admitted to the violation and accepted the proposed penalty, obviating the necessity for a proper listening to.
The cost was introduced by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Shahid Saikat, supported by third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Alex Wharf.
