President Murmu To Confers Bharat Ratna Awards Upon LK Advani, Karpoori Thakur And three Others

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu confers Bharat Ratna upon 5 eminent personalities together with two former Prime Ministers (posthumously) and veteran BJP chief L.Ok. Advani.

Among the many 5 personalities to be awarded Bharat Ratna, apart from former Deputy Prime Minister L.Ok. Advani, 4 others — ex-Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and P.V. Narasimha Rao, eminent agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan, and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, have been awarded posthumously.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had posted on X: “Delighted to share that our former Prime Minister, PV Narasimha Rao Garu, will probably be honoured with the Bharat Ratna. As a distinguished scholar and statesman, Narasimha Rao Garu served India extensively in numerous capacities.

“He’s equally remembered for the work he did because the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister, and as a Member of Parliament and Legislative Meeting for a few years. His visionary management was instrumental in making India economically superior and laying a strong basis for the nation’s prosperity and development. Whereas saying the honour for Chaudhary Charan Singh, PM Modi wrote on X: “It’s the luck of our authorities that former Prime Minister of the nation, Chaudhary Charan Singh, is being honoured with Bharat Ratna. This honour is devoted to his incomparable contributions to the nation. He had devoted his complete life to the rights of farmers and their welfare.”

PM Modi had additionally introduced Bharat Ratna for agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan.
