Ajaz Guru, the brother of Parliament assault convict Afzal Guru, has thrown his hat into the ring by submitting his nomination to contest the meeting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He is operating as an Impartial candidate from the Sopore seat, which is situated within the north Kashmir district. Ajaz, a resident of Baramulla’s Delina space, submitted his nomination papers on the final day of submitting.
After taking the plunge, Ajaz instructed reporters that he is contesting the elections as a result of, like all Kashmiris, he is suffered by way of “35 years of hardships”. His nomination papers might be scrutinized on Friday, and he can withdraw his candidacy till September 17. The individuals of Sopore will head to the polls on October 1, within the third section of the elections.
Ajaz’s brother, Afzal Guru, was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9, 2013, for masterminding the December 2001 assault on Parliament.
