Jaishankar Arrives In Pakistan For The 23rd Assembly Of SCO Conclave

Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Islamabad to take part in a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conclave, marking the primary go to by a senior Indian minister to Pakistan in a number of years.

Jaishankar was welcomed by senior officers from Pakistan after he arrived at Nur Khan airbase.

This marks the primary go to by India’s overseas minister to Pakistan in almost 9 years, regardless of ongoing tensions between the 2 international locations over the Kashmir problem and cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.

The final Indian Overseas Minister to go to Pakistan was Sushma Swaraj, who travelled to Islamabad in December 2015 to attend a convention on Afghanistan.

Earlier, India said that it’s actively concerned in numerous mechanisms of the SCO. Pakistan is internet hosting the two-day SCO Council of Heads of Authorities (CHG) summit on October 15 and 16.

“The SCO CHG assembly is held yearly and focuses on the commerce and financial agenda of the Organisation,” MEA stated, PTI reported.

“Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will signify India on the assembly. India stays actively engaged within the SCO format, together with numerous mechanisms and initiatives throughout the SCO framework,” it stated in a short assertion in New Delhi.

Jaishankar is anticipated to attend a banquet reception hosted by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to welcome delegates from the SCO member nations.
