Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Ghosh, the principal of RG Kar Medical School & Hospital, resigned on Monday morning following widespread outrage over the rape and homicide of a younger physician on the establishment. In his resignation, Ghosh expressed his misery over being focused on social media and described the sufferer as a daughter to him. He acknowledged, “I’m being defamed on social media… The deceased physician was like my daughter. As a dad or mum, I resign… I do not need this to occur to anybody sooner or later,” as reported by ANI.
