Maharashtra: FIR Filed Towards Former DGP, Six Others For Alleged Extortion

The Thane metropolis police have lodged an FIR in opposition to seven people, together with former Maharashtra DGP Sanjay Pandey, on expenses of alleged irregularities and extortion. The FIR, which was registered not too long ago, relies on a grievance by Mumbai businessman Sanjay Punamiya, who claims that he was harassed by the accused between Might 2021 and June 30, 2024.

Along with Pandey, the opposite people named within the FIR embrace retired ACP Sardar Patil, PI Manohar Patil, in addition to Advocate Shekar Jagtap, Shyamsunder Agrawal, Subham Agrawal, and Sharad Agrawal.

Punamiya alleged that the accused unlawfully reopened a 2016 case filed with Thane Nagar police, used threats of false circumstances in opposition to him and different businessmen, extorted cash, and created solid paperwork. Moreover, they allegedly impersonated a Particular Public Prosecutor to mislead the courts.

The FIR lists a number of sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), corresponding to Part 166(a) for misconduct by a public servant, Part 170 for impersonation, Part 120B for legal conspiracy, Part 193 for offering false proof, and extra sections regarding forgery, extortion, and legal intimidation.

The police investigation into these allegations is ongoing, and no arrests have been made thus far.
