The Patna Excessive Courtroom abolished the 65% reservation for backward lessons, EBCs, SCs, and STs on Thursday. A division bench led by Chief Justice Okay Vinod Chandran issued an order on a number of writ petitions contesting the constitutional validity of the legal guidelines launched by the Nitish Kumar-led authorities in November 2023.
Ritika Rani, one of many counsels showing for the petitioners, acknowledged that that they had argued that the amendments to the reservation legal guidelines violated the Structure.
“After listening to each side, the court docket reserved its judgement for March. At present the ultimate order has come, and our petitions have been allowed,” she informed PTI-Bhasha.
Based on a report from information company ANI, the Courtroom declared the Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Providers (Modification) Act, 2023, and the Bihar (In Admission in Academic Establishments) Reservation (Modification) Act, 2023, as unconstitutional and in violation of the equality provisions underneath Articles 14, 15, and 16.
