NEW DELHI: India’s star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra has set new requirements in Indian athletics. After clinching gold on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and silver on the Paris 2024 Olympics, Neeraj is now targeted on breaking the elusive 90m barrier in javelin, a milestone achieved by only some globally.
On the Paris Olympics, Neeraj threw 89.45m however misplaced to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic file with a 92.97m throw.

On Friday, Neeraj improved his season’s finest to 89.49m, ending second behind Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who threw 90.61m on the Lausanne Diamond League.

Peters completed third in Paris.

Regardless of his spectacular throw, Neeraj’s disappointment at lacking the 90m mark was evident.
