The College Grants Fee (UGC) has informed Jadavpur College that the latter has not taken proactive measures to curb ragging within the college, and the fee isn’t proud of the report submitted by the varsity’s anti-ragging committee, following the loss of life of a first-year pupil on the college. Earlier this week, the anti-ragging committee of the Jadavpur College submitted its report back to the UGC following the loss of life of a first-year Bengali Honours pupil, days after becoming a member of the college. The 19-year-old boy died after falling from the second-floor of the college’s major hostel.

The loss of life of the coed has put the college administration into motion following allegations that the deceased pupil was subjected to ragging within the campus.
