Notably, the Ramanujan faculty administration launched a 20-day certificates course on Bhagavad Gita and requested its instructing and non-teaching employees to mandatorily register and attend the refresher course. The transfer was fast in drawing flak from academics, fuelling a recent row. The academics’ outfit Democratic Lecturers’ Entrance,  a left-leaning academics outfit, has demanded the withdrawal of the obligatory registration and attendance for academics for the Bhagavad Gita refresher course. The academics physique termed the transfer as ‘autocratic,’ and stated that the faculty employees are being coerced into registering for the Bhagavad Gita course.

Illegally coercing academics and non-teaching employees to stay engaged until 6.30 pm past official duties and the added burden of conducting the continued semester examinations of scholars is unacceptable,” information company PTI quoted the DTF as saying.
