As late ghazal legend Pankaj Udhas wins the Padma Bhushan posthumously, his elder daughter, Nayaab Udhas, talks concerning the win, says they ‘miss him a lot extra’
Late ghazal legend Pankaj Udhas was conferred with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award, 19 years in the past, in 2006. And now, he has been posthumously honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Calling it a “bitter-sweet expertise”, his elder daughter, Nayaab Udhas tells us, “I used to be so completely happy and emotional once I bought a name to tell us about dad’s honour. The Padma Awards 2025 have been introduced on the eve of Republic Day (Saturday; January 25), with singer Sharda Sinha getting Padma Vibhushan posthumously. Singer Arijit Singh, musician Ricky Kej, director Shekhar Kapur and actor Ajith Kumar have been conferred with the Padma awards. The awards are given in varied disciplines/ fields of actions together with artwork, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and business, drugs, literature and schooling, sports activities, and civil service. The are introduced on the eve of Republic Day yearly.
