The United Nations Safety Council has condemned the terrorist assault in Burkina Faso.
In a press release issued on August 29, the members of the Safety Council condemned within the strongest phrases the heinous terrorist assaults ensuing within the lack of civilian lives over the months in Burkina Faso, together with the assault within the Burkinabe city of Barsalogho on August 24. The assault was claimed by an Al-Qaida-affiliated militant group referred to as Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM).
The members of the Safety Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the households of the victims and to the transitional authorities and the individuals of Burkina Faso, and so they wished a speedy and full restoration to those that have been injured.
The members of the Safety Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its types and manifestations constitutes some of the critical threats to worldwide peace and safety.
The members additionally underlined the necessity to carry perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of those reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice and urged all States to behave in accordance with their obligations underneath worldwide legislation and related Safety Council resolutions.
The members of the Safety Council expressed their concern concerning the safety scenario in Burkina Faso and the transnational dimension of the terrorist menace within the Sahel area.
The Safety Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its types and manifestations constitutes some of the critical threats to worldwide peace and safety.
