US Deports 116 Indians, Punjab Police Nabs 2 Wished In Homicide Case At Amritsar Airport

Two youths from Rajpura in Patiala district had been amongst 116 people deported by the US in a C-17 plane that landed at Amritsar airport on Saturday evening. The duo, recognized as Sandeep Singh alias Sunny and Pradeep Singh, had been arrested by Punjab police on Sunday in reference to a 2023 homicide case.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused had been taken into custody shortly after their arrival on the Amritsar airport. “Sandeep and Pradeep had been needed in a homicide case registered in Rajpura in 2023. A staff led by the SHO of Rajpura police station was despatched to the airport to arrest them,” SSP Nanak Singh mentioned.

The case in opposition to Sandeep and 4 others was initially registered in June 2023. In the course of the investigation, Pradeep’s identify was added to the FIR as an confederate. The duo had been on the run because the case was filed, and their deportation from the US offered the police with a chance to carry them to justice.

The US navy plane, carrying 116 unlawful Indian immigrants, touched down in Amritsar at 11:35 pm on Saturday. Among the many deportees, 65 had been from Punjab. This marks the second batch of Indian immigrants deported by the Donald Trump administration since February 5, as a part of its ongoing crackdown on unlawful immigration.
