Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday responded to the query of controversy on the choice taken by his authorities to scale back faculty holidays within the state. On Tuesday, the Training Division of Bihar authorities revealed a brand new vacation calendar for state-run faculties during which it has shortened the holidays for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja so as to enhance the variety of working days. As per the calendar, Raksha Bandhan on August 31 was declared a “restricted” or an non-compulsory vacation whereas holidays for Durga Puja have been slashed to 3 days from earlier six days and solely one-day vacation every shall be given for Diwali and Chitragupta Puja, and two days for Chhath Puja.
Earlier, faculties had a nine-day trip from Diwali to Chhath Puja, as per the notification.
Irked by the choice, a gathering of Bihar Elementary Academics Affiliation was held on Wednesday which was attended by lecturers from varied state-run faculties. The lecturers’ union demanded withdrawal of the choice and warned of lockouts in faculties.
The union blamed the federal government for polarising politics and alleged that holidays on account of Hindu festivals have been cancelled or shortened whereas leaving holidays for Muslim festivals untouched.
“We quick on many festivals together with Chhath and Durga Puja. How will we be capable to educate in such a state of affairs? Bihar authorities is doing appeasement politics,” the lecturers stated, as per ABP report.
