Maharashtra Elections 2024: Chief of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday responded to experiences alleging that BJP common secretary Vinod Tawde was caught with Rs 5 crore at a Virar resort, reportedly supposed for voter distribution on the eve of the Maharashtra Meeting polls. Two FIRs has been filed in opposition to Tawde, get together candidate Rajan Naik and several other others for violating the elections code. 

Rahul Gandhi questioned the origin of the cash, claiming it to be a stolen fund. He stated in a put up on social media platform ‘X’, “Modiji, from whose SAFE did these 5 crores come? Who looted the general public’s cash and despatched you within the tempo?” 

Replying to the previous Congress president’s response, Vinod Tawde asserted, “Sir, you your self come to Nalasopara, see the CCTV footage of the resort, see your entire proceedings of the Election Fee held there and show that the cash got here on this method.” 

He added that making such allegation with none concrete info is ‘childishness.’ 

A number of different Congress leaders grilled the BJP chief over the incident, Supriya Shrinate stated, “Vinod Tawde shouldn’t be an extraordinary employee however nationwide common secretary of BJP. Why was he in a resort in Virar East? A bag and Rs 5 crores in money was recovered from him. Is that this not a method to affect elections?”

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis defended Tawde amidst allegations of voter bribery. Fadnavis said that Tawde was on the Virar resort solely to satisfy get together employees and denied any involvement in distributing money. 

“No cash was discovered, and none was distributed,” Fadnavis stated. He additional claimed that the incident was a part of a deliberate assault on BJP candidate Rajan Naik and get together employees. “Vinod Tawde shouldn’t be responsible in any respect; he’s simply being accused,” Fadnavis added.

A commotion broke out at a resort in Virar close to Mumbai on Tuesday after BJP Normal Secretary Vinod Tawde was confronted by employees of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA). The BVA employees accused Tawde of bringing money to distribute amongst voters forward of Wednesday’s Maharashtra Meeting elections.
