Winter Session: 15 MPs Suspended From Parliament -14 From Lok Sabha, One From Rajya Sabha

With each homes of Parliament witnessing ruckus over yesterday’s safety breach, the Lok Sabha Speaker in the present day suspended 14 opposition MPs whereas Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended TMC MP Derek O’Brien from the home. 

These suspended from the Lok Sabha embrace DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, Benny Behanan, VK Sreekandan, Mohammad Jawed, PR Natarajan, Ok Subrahmanyam, SR Parthiban, S Venkatesan and Manickam Tagore. The MPs had been suspended for ‘unruly conduct’.

On her suspension, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi mentioned, “There may be an MP who has really given the passes for these (accused of Parliament safety breach) folks to come back in. No motion has been taken towards that MP….He is inside Parliament with us. And once we protested and we wish the PM and the Dwelling Minister to come back and provides an announcement within the Home, they are not prepared to do this. And once we protested, they’re suspending all of the opposition MPs. First suspended 5, then they suspended 9 folks. So how is that this democracy?”

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram mentioned, “What occurred yesterday was a colossal safety and intelligence failure. We wish the federal government to come back and inform the Home on what occurred yesterday and what are the steps that they’re taking. The federal government is adamant about not coming, both the PM or HM ought to make an announcement…Simply because we demanded and protested, with the intention to stifle our voice, about 15 odd MPs have been suspended for the remaining of the session.”

The opposition has been demanding that both the Prime Minister or Dwelling Minister make an announcement concerning the safety breach that occurred yesterday.
